The cause is a group of mysterious creatures that prey on the inhabitants of the earth. Little is known about these creatures, other than that they are blind, have very strong body armor, and super sharp hearing.
So sharp, they immediately come rush after hearing a soft sound though. A handful of human beings who are able to survive, forced to move into the suburbs and lonely mountains.
Includes a family consisting of a husband (John Krasinki), wife (Emily Blunt), and two children (Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds).
Living Without Sound
One basic rule that must be obeyed to protect their lives: to live without a sound. They now communicate more often with sign language. Even to walk they must be barefooted on the sand, or even tiptoed, minimizing the emergence of the sound so as not to invite the presence of these mysterious beings.
Although their lives can still run, there are two things that hung in the minds of the members of this family. The first is the guilt over the death of the youngest child. The second, is the fetus that the mother conceived.
With the mother's growing belly, they are racing against time to prepare for the birth of the baby-and also the presence of these predatory creatures.
Intense Tension
Since the teaser of this film was released, A Quiet Place instantly sparked curiosity. Yes, the film that discusses the world chaos due to the presence of aliens is actually not a new thing. But the concept of the source of fear and terror that comes from the existence of sound, is one thing that is refreshing.
Not only that, all the elements that make up A Quiet Place, from acting to storyline, support each other to build a very intense tension throughout the film. Do not be surprised if you yourself will sit while holding your breath in the seat of the audience.
The Brilliant Players
One of the most powerful things in A Quiet Place is the character presented in this film and all its dynamics. Yes, this movie is minimal dialogue, also almost no story about the background of the characters. Even new audiences can know their name when the credit title at the end of the movie is played.
Even so, the audience feels so attached to this little family. The emotions of the characters, ranging from fear, anxiety, to love, are strongly displayed-but not excessively throughout the film.
In fact, little scenes like when the mother taught her son mathematics in the middle of the apocalypse, making this family feel so humane. That although human civilization began to collapse, the mother tried to bring a normal world to the child through algebra lessons.
Praise should be given to all players. Not only Emily Blunt and John Krasinki - who really are a couple in the real world - but also to the little stars Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds who play brilliantly.
Terrible Monster
Not only play and enter the ranks of screenwriters. John Krasinki was also sitting on the bench in A Quiet Place director. And, he was very successful at building tension from the beginning to the end of the film.
One factor is the way he raises the alien throughout the film. He slowly introduced this monster, from a shadow to their claws that ripped the walls. It was only at the end of the film that he showed the appearance of this creature.
Minim Jump Scare, Maximum Tension
Krasinki also does not rely much on scare jump tricks that are somewhat stale. Conversely, horror more often appears in slow-moving scenes. And this, it is even more effective to provoke audience tension.
Moreover, the audio elements in this movie are also arranged with fitting. Mostly highlight the silence that became the main atmosphere of this film. But at the right moment, it just came and ripped the silence.
Not infrequently, audio elements are also designed to invite the audience into the world of the characters. Starting from the music that these couples heard through earphones, or the ears of the eldest daughter who did not work. In this way, the audience becomes more attached to the characters at A Quiet Place.
Live Today
Of these advantages, it is not difficult to give the stamp 'worth watching' at A Quiet Place. Just make sure you are able to smother the tension for approximately 1.5 hours duration of this movie.
A Quiet Place, began airing in theaters on this day, Tuesday (3/4/2018).
